TRAVEL CHIC (THE HOLIDAY SERIES PART IV).

Travel style tips by Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

So we spoke about what to wear on an island getaway here, but what if you're not travelling to an exotic location?

When bare skin and bikinis are a no go, I pack classic, simple pieces that I can wear over and over without anyone noticing because, well... when travelling, I've usually got way better things to do than deliberate over an outfit – like eating.

I'm off to London on Wednesday and summer's in full swing there, but considering it's winter here and I've been living in nothing but big coats and cosy knits, I figured I needed a few new summer staples to pack.

Cue... my new black leather backpack. I've been lusting over a similar one by The Row (but a girl's gotta eat), so I was so excited to score this one for my trip! It's the most beautiful soft leather and simple shape. These photos don't even do it justice.

I like to pack versatile pieces when I travel, and I found heaps of amazing holiday staples on Topshop, including this boxy white shirt dress which works for day and night (+ a red lip, heels and a clutch).

FROM THE BEACH TO THE BAR (THE HOLIDAY SERIES PART III).

Summer-holiday-style-Chronicles-of-Her-01

Less is more is my holiday mantra. Except if we're referring to happy hour, infinity pools or authentic Thai food.

Actually, scrap that. That mantra only works when it comes to what I pack in my suitcase and the amount of time and effort I put into my beauty regime.

As well as these four things you should always pack for a sun-filled getaway, you need a go-to outfit for sundown. Preferably one that's low fuss and puts that newly found holiday glow on display.

Here's one I prepared earlier...

MONDAY VIBE: BIG COATS AND BIRKENSTOCKS.

Winter style pinstripe coat Chronicles of Her 06

Monday mornings... I never exactly deserve an A for effort. So that's why I've found a few shortcuts for making myself look socially acceptable, without having to face-up to high heels (or the hairdryer for that matter).

You see, I'm all about dressing up to feel dressed down because comfort is the aim of my game, but you'll never see me ordering my 3/4 soy latte in sweatpants.

My Monday vibe goes a little something like this... throw on a long structured coat, black pants (plain or leather) and a camisole and then top it off with a few pieces of simple fine jewellery, semi-tucked hair and fresh minimal make-up.

And Birkenstocks. You probably can't rock them to a law firm, but if you do attempt this I'd love to hear about it.

I guess working in Birks is just one of the perks of self employment.

In other news, I'm excited to let you know that I've been working with Pandora around the launch of their new Symbols range.

This post is a little sneak peek featuring a few of my favourite pieces from the mainline collection (we all know I'm a little obsessed with pearls!), but I love how all of the pieces are so easy to mix and match and I can't wait to show you how to style the Symbols collection into your everyday wardrobe.

What's your Monday vibe? Tell me in the comments! x

When I first posted the orange version of this dress back in March, I had no idea what was to follow.

It was a piece I borrowed from the graduate collection of a new Australian designer called Kaylene Milner (a one off), and the response was absolutely cray-zay. Then, Who What Wear posted this photo in a blogger round-up and the love started coming in from all around the world.

So to meet the demand, and give the people what they want, (I'm pretty damn excited to announce that) Kaylene Milner's "Carmen cable knit dress" is now available in grey and orange here. Kaylene makes them all herself here in Australia, and I'm so very honoured to have this incredible piece named after yours truly.

What do you think? Do you like the grey, the orange or both?

THESE JEANS WILL SOLVE YOUR WARDROBE DILEMMAS.

How-to-wear-skinny-jeans-by-Chronicles-of-Her-www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

You know that frustrating moment when your outfit won't work because your top needs to be slightly longer to cover ill-fitting jeans, or you're trying to tuck the extra length of your jeans in to skinny ankle boots to no avail?

I did away with those annoying problems a little while ago, and the solution was very simple.

Rather than owning multiple pairs of jeans, and liking and disliking certain things about each pair, I reworked my wardrobe to only include four or five pairs of the ultimate, staple denim jeans – and by that I mean, ones that fit so well you basically want to wear them with nothing else... but unfortunately it's pretty damn cold in Sydney and nipples aren't socially acceptable... Instagram doesn't even like them.

These four pairs will have you covered from day to night. All day, every day.

THE TRUE BLUE:

Classic, timeless and versatile. These are jeans to live in. Wear them with a white boyfriend shirt to channel Parisian chic, or try double denim if you're game. You can mix and match denims, or go head-to-toe in one wash. Here's one I prepared earlier:

These are your day-to-night friends. Dark denim looks slightly more "polished", but this wash basically goes with anything. For daytime, I love them paired with a simple T-shirt and Birkenstocks.

A woman's best friend. All hail the black high-rise skinnies, a.k.a. the most flattering jeans ever. I love wearing them with chunky knits or a crisp white shirt and a boyfriend blazer. The contrast of suiting and denim means you can dress up without looking (or feeling) like you're trying.

Wearing Mango blazer, Oskar shirt, Nobody jeans and Pour La Victoire mules.

The hero jeans for after five or dressier occasions. I tend to live in these in winter because they're the next best thing to leather pants (which are often unflattering and really uncomfortable).

These four pairs are super stretchy, so they mould to your body like a second skin, meaning you can sit however you want and feel right at home. Like me, lounging all around this awesome car which I borrowed from my photographer's assistant for these photos.

4 THINGS TO PACK FOR A SUMMER VACATION (THE HOLIDAY SERIES PART II).

I'm not that great at packing lightly, but these four pieces have had me covered for days spent at the beach in Thailand.

THE WHITE BOYFRIEND SHIRT:

We all know how I feel about white shirts, but they come in especially handy on holiday.

For a super relaxed holiday vibe, the bigger the better. This one I'm wearing is a large.

THE BLACK BIKINI:

I'd never really considered high-waisted bikinis before because I'm not exactly sure my boyfriend would be into them, but these Lisa Marie Fernandez ones have fully converted me.

Worried about the tan lines? Zip them down and fold them over.

THE SUNGLASSES:

I've always been into sunglasses for sartorial purposes, but turns out I actually have a freckle on my eye, so it just goes to show it's extremely important to protect your peepers from the sun's harsh rays!

THE HAT:

As you've probably gathered from my Instagram, I'm all about the straw hats right now. A big black band is a must.

What do you always pack in your suitcase? xx

BIKINI-READY SKIN IN THREE STEPS (THE HOLIDAY SERIES PART I).

Here's how to glow before you go.

When you've planned a getaway to an exotic location, preparation isn't just about packing your suitcase.

Something everybody (including me sometimes) forgets is that you need to pay special attention to your skin to have it primed and prepped for a bikini – especially if you're escaping winter at home.

When it comes to skincare, I like to stick to one brand or "system" at a time so I'm not confusing my skin. At the moment I'm all about Grown Alchemist's beautiful botanical body range.

1. BUFF & POLISH.

Exfoliating is essential if you want an even skin tone all over.

Apply it all over your body and use a circular motion to buff away dead skin cells. This one by Grown Alchemist has aragonite and conchiolin proteins from pearl which makes my skin look instantly fresh and rejuvenated. Oh, and they have 25% off their whole range online right now here

2. TREAT & NOURISH.

You probably use a serum on your face, but have you ever tried using a body serum?

This is like a huge drink of water for your skin.

Apply it all over, massaging it into the skin as you go.

Pay special attention to dryer areas like the elbows, ankles and knees. These are the biggest tell-tale areas of dry, undernourished skin.

3. MOISTURISE.

A rich body moisturiser leaves the skin looking and feeling super soft and supple.

Apply a generous amount where needed. More is more.

I find my legs are the driest so I focus on them. Vacations and bikinis call for hydrated, shiny pins.

DONE! Margaritas are calling.
