EVERYONE NEEDS THIS SWEATER. HERE'S 4 WAYS TO WEAR IT.

Acne sweater Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

Whether you're seeing out the colder months in Australia, or preparing for a long cold winter in the northern hemisphere, a branded statement sweater is always a good idea.

This one by Acne Studios is surprisingly versatile, and the classic, cult-worthy design means it'll be one of those pieces you'll hold on to for years to come.

Here's four ways to wear it, whether you're cruising around on the weekend or heading out after hours.

HITTING THE SHOPS:

Pair it with chic cropped trousers, brogues and oversized sunglasses for the right amount of dressed-up, but not too much.

Wear it with classic white jeans (or a darker shade if you have a tendency towards spilling your soy latte, like me) and trainers.

BRUNCH:

Since I shot this in London I thought I'd get into the spirit of things with a "brunch"-worthy (aka breakfast, but scheduled a good few hours earlier in Australia) outfit.

DRINKS WITH THE GIRLS:

You can take or leave this suggestion, but I dress to impress my friends so bodycon and I haven't seen eye to eye since my 18th birthday, hence why I would definitely wear this outfit to drinks with the girls.

Pair it with a leather pencil skirt, strappy heels and gold statement earrings in the evening.

NEW FAVOURITE: THE LIZ JONES ALL-IN-ONE BRONZE FACE COMPACT.

Bronze summer makeup Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

Make-up artists have a way of working extra magic with a face and making the most of its features.

Nailing a golden sun-kissed make-up look that can take you from day to night is something I hadn't managed to master yet because I could never seem to find the right shade of golden brown shadow, and most of my lip colours seem to take away the "natural" factor when added into the equation.

A little while ago I met Australian make-up artist Liz Jones on a shoot and she introduced me to her range of make-up kits.

I've always been a little bit wary of kits because there are always some products in them that I don't like or need, and never enough of the good stuff, but this bronze face compact has quickly become a favourite – particularly while travelling in Positano!

The key is to keep it natural, using the concealer to touch-up blemishes, a bit of bronzer on the cheeks, copper bronze shadow to subtly contour the eye area and a white eye pencil to open-up the eyes and make them pop.

Top it off with a few coats of mascara on the top lashes and a slick of the perfectly peachy and glossy, but not-too-glossy lip colour and you're good to go!

I love how all of the colours seem to compliment each other, and the white eye pencil is an essential little extra that makes a huge difference.

Yep. You can thank me later.

WORKWEAR WORTH WAKING UP FOR.

Workwear with a twist Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

I know workwear is probably the last thing I should be thinking about on holiday, but I've made many new additions to my wardrobe in London and I was too excited not to share them.

Workwear is something I haven't given much thought to for a while because I'm now working from home full time, but we all know I have a tendency towards tailoring, so I've been missing my structured tops and pencil skirts.

Workwear with a twist Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

If getting dressed for work doesn't really excite you, and it's becoming a bit monotonous, it's time to think of subtle ways to inject some life back into your working wardrobe.

Workwear with a twist Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

I make sure I can wear my working wardrobe on the weekend, and vice versa.

It's all about finding pieces with some sort of original detailing that makes them just that little bit more special, like the gold button on this skirt. Obsessed!

Workwear with a twist Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

I'm still going through my flats-only stage, and I'm all about brogues and oxfords at the moment.

They're classic, clean and still dressy enough to wear to work. Oh, and they make coffee runs and staircases so. much. easier.

In other VERY exciting news, because of you all being so epic, I've made it to the finals of the Bloglovin' Awards in the 'newcomer' category (i.e. new kid on the block) and it would mean the world to me if you'd take a second to help a sister out and vote for me HERE

I'll repay you in love and more blog posts (insert praying hands Emoji). x

FOUND: THE ULTIMATE CREAM SWEATER.

Cream sweater and black jeans Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

I arrived in London late last week to visit my sister.

We decided to make the most of the European summer and spend some quality time together (i.e. soaking up some rays and sipping cocktails) in Positano next week.

Sydney was (by Australian standards) freezing when I left, so I was pretty excited to escape, and while the weather in London has been pretty amazing since I landed, I've been trying to find any excuse to wear my new knit from And Other Stories – and the slightly cold change in the air this morning was good enough.

chronicles-of-her-cream-knit-black-jeans-nikes-07

What's so good about it?

The high neck, square shoulders and textured detail is everything. It's special enough to wear dressed up, and understated enough to wear when you're just hanging.

This morning's coffee run to Ottolenghi called for my favourite Nobody skinnies (ultra-black, high-waisted and the perfect length) and Nikes.

By the way, if you're a London local and you feel like giving-up your locals only cafe and restaurant tips, I'd love to hear them!

THE CLASSICS: TALKING DEFAULT OUTFITS.

Chronicles of Her Pandora Symbols collection

They say 'when all else fails, wear black'. But what if a) it's the middle of summer, b) you're by the beach and c) you just don't feel like wearing black?

We all know I rarely stray from black, but for those 'nothing to wear' days, I say it's important to have default outfits for every scenario, or default pieces at least.

What am I talking about?

Chronicles of Her Pandora Symbols collection

Classic, oversize button-up shirts. Denim shorts. The perfect-fitting pair of jeans. An awesome black blazer...

Chronicles of Her Pandora Symbols collection

And beautiful fine jewellery pieces you never have to take off because they're subtle enough to wear with everything.

Chronicles of Her Pandora Symbols collection

When I'm stuck with 'nothing to wear', I always go back to these classics. You could say it's a little unadventurous, but I always think less is more.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR SKIN GLOW.

How to wash your face properly Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

What’s better than faking it with highlighters and illuminators? Not needing to fake it – by building better skin from the inside out.

My skin started looking a little lackluster lately, so I decided to do something about it. Not the quick-fix, drown your cheekbones in illuminator kind of way – the real way.

Why? Because, well, I’m at the ripe old age of 25, and, just as my mother always told me, those years of binging on chocolate and fast food do finally catch up with you, so I decided to take action and try something new – i.e. Estée Lauder’s Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion.

A skincare routine should be so much more enjoyable than washing your make-up off and slapping on a moisturiser. It’s about taking a moment to indulge, and nourish your skin – healing it from the inside out, and giving it what it needs to stay radiant and youthful every single day.

How to wash your face properly Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

1. REMOVE MAKE-UP WITH AN OIL CLEANSER

Your products can’t work their magic if they’re trying to breakthrough a make-up barrier. Massage a cleansing oil over your face in circular motions so it lathers-up. Rinse with tepid water.

2. PRESS MICRO ESSENCE INTO YOUR SKIN USING YOUR HANDS

Pour 5-6 drops into your palm and rub hands together.

Start at the chin and work your way upwards to the forehead. I keep kneading the lotion into my skin with my palms until it’s completely absorbed.

How to wash your face properly Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

Nothing has ever had such an instant impact on my skin. Micro Essence makes it look like I’ve pumped my daily two litre water intake straight into my pores and after using it for two months, my overall skin tone looks so much better. I’m even considering saying goodbye to my beloved tinted moisturiser.

Adding this step to my routine morning and night has totally upped my skincare game because I’m treating the skin from within. Micro Essence quickens-up the cell renewal process so my skin looks refreshed and radiant 24/7. It also builds-up the skin’s natural barrier to be more resistant to the day’s stresses, which slows the ageing process, and you know what they say – prevention is better than a cure.

3. FOLLOW-UP WITH ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR SERUM

Put 3-4 drops of this serum in your palm and use the same gentle pressing motion to apply it all over your face. Then, using the tips of your fingers, gently tap all over your face for one minute. This increases blood flow and awakens the skin.

How to wash your face properly Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

Advanced Night Repair locks-in the Micro Essence and helps it to penetrate deeper into the skin. They work together to boost the skin from within and give you a real glow that no highlighter can mimic.

4. MOISTURISE

Now you’re done with the target treatments, work a simple moisturising lotion into your face and neck to seal the deal.

How to wash your face properly Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

5. EYE SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR EYE CREAM

Dry, papery skin around the eyes can make you look 10 years older, which isn’t usually the look I’m going for.

Use your ring finger to gently massage an eye cream around the whole eye area.

GLOW GET EM

It’s like a double-dose of superfoods for your skin! Do this morning and night and watch your skin transform.

TRAVEL CHIC (THE HOLIDAY SERIES PART IV).

Travel style tips by Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

So we spoke about what to wear on an island getaway here, but what if you're not travelling to an exotic location?

When bare skin and bikinis are a no go, I pack classic, simple pieces that I can wear over and over without anyone noticing because, well... when travelling, I've usually got way better things to do than deliberate over an outfit – like eating.

Travel style tips by Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

I'm off to London on Wednesday and summer's in full swing there, but considering it's winter here and I've been living in nothing but big coats and cosy knits, I figured I needed a few new summer staples to pack.

Travel style tips by Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

Cue... my new black leather backpack. I've been lusting over a similar one by The Row (but a girl's gotta eat), so I was so excited to score this one for my trip! It's the most beautiful soft leather and simple shape. These photos don't even do it justice.

I like to pack versatile pieces when I travel, and I found heaps of amazing holiday staples on Topshop, including this boxy white shirt dress which works for day and night (+ a red lip, heels and a clutch).

Throw a pair of black cat eye frames in the mix and you're good to go.
